Privacy Policy
Draft. This page will be finalized and dated before the site launches.
This policy explains what Multiplayer Atlas (“we”), operated by Multiplayer Atlas, collects when you use the site, why, who it is shared with and how you control it. We don’t sell personal information and we don’t use advertising trackers.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Username, email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password itself).
- Anything you add to your profile: display name, bio, website, country, and whether your profile is public.
What you do on the site
- Ratings, reviews (including earlier-season reviews), your game library, lists, play diary, favorites, followed games and members.
- Votes for games, with a hashed network address and device fingerprint so we can stop vote fraud. If you vote through a game’s link, the player ID that game put in the link is sent back to it so it can reward you.
- Giveaway codes you claim. Codes are stored encrypted and shown only to you.
- Notification preferences and the notifications we send you.
Technical information
- Your IP address, but only as a one-way hash, used for security, rate limits, fraud prevention and counting unique visitors. We can’t turn the hash back into your address.
- Browser type and device class (mobile, tablet or desktop), the page you came from (site name only), pages viewed, searches and clicks through to games.
- Sign-in sessions (browser description and when they were used), so you can be signed out remotely.
Why we use it
- To run the service you asked for: your account, profile, reviews, lists, diary, votes and giveaway codes.
- To keep it fair and safe: detecting fake votes, spam and abuse, and enforcing the community rules.
- To build rankings and statistics: always aggregated; rankings never use sponsored traffic.
- To email you: account emails (confirmation, password reset) and the notification digests you can turn off in your settings.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you signed up for, our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and useful, and your consent for optional emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
- Everyone: content you publish (reviews, ratings in aggregate, public lists, public profile, diary and activity) is public. A private profile hides your profile, lists, diary and activity.
- Game developers: if you vote through a developer’s vote link, they receive the player ID from that link and the time of your vote. Developers see aggregate statistics for their game, never your identity.
- Service providers who process data for us under contract: hosting, email delivery, and, when enabled, a bot-check provider on vote and claim forms and an AI provider that receives the text of search queries (never your account details).
- When required by law, or to protect members and the site from fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: until you delete them or your account.
- Page views, analytics events and search logs: up to about 13 months.
- Read notifications: 6 months. Inactive sign-in sessions: 60 days. Email and password-reset links: until they expire or are used.
- Votes stay counted after you delete your account but are no longer linked to you.
Your choices and rights
- Download your data and delete your account at any time from Your data.
- Correct your details from your account page, make your profile private, and choose which notifications and emails you get.
- Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing and to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us at the contact address shown in the site footer and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account (or older where local law requires). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security and transfers
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and network addresses, encrypted giveaway codes, and strict access controls. Our providers may process data in other countries; where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we’ll update the date above and announce it on the site. Questions: the contact address shown in the site footer.
