Dune: Awakening

An open-world survival MMO on Arrakis from Funcom, mixing base building, spice harvesting, sandworm danger and faction PvP in the Deep Desert.

Overview

Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO set on Arrakis, in an alternate version of the Dune timeline where Paul Atreides was never born. Players begin as a prisoner left in the desert and must find water, shelter and gear to survive heat, sandstorms and sandworms.

The early game is a survival and crafting loop: gathering resources, building bases, refining materials and unlocking schematics. Story quests tie into the novels' factions and skill trees, including Mentat, Swordmaster and Bene Gesserit abilities. Vehicles such as sand bikes, buggies and ornithopters open up travel and harvesting.

Each region is a hub shared with other players, and the Deep Desert is a larger contested area where guilds fight over spice. Players also join the Atreides or Harkonnen side in a political struggle. The game is a one-time purchase on PC, and it came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in September 2026.
