Overview

Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis is SEGA's online action RPG set on the planet Halpha, a thousand years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2. It replaced the older game with larger open fields, a new engine and a reworked combat system.

Combat is fast and action-based, with weapon classes that can be paired with a subclass. Players fight in open regions where random emergency events appear, and urgent quests gather many players for large boss battles. Progression centers on gear, augments and class levels, along with monthly updates and story chapters.

The character creator is one of the most detailed in the genre, and players can also design their own personal quarters. The game is free to play on PC, Xbox and PlayStation with cross-play, and it sells cosmetics and convenience items through a cash shop with randomized scratch tickets.
