Overview

Wizard101 is a family-oriented MMORPG in which players enroll as students at Ravenwood School of Magical Arts in the Spiral, a set of linked worlds. The main story follows a long series of worlds with their own themes, from Wizard City and Krokotopia to more recent arcs.

Combat is turn-based and uses cards: each school of magic has its own spell deck, and players take turns in dueling circles that other players can join at any time. Progression comes from leveling, quests, gear and pets that can be trained and hatched together. Gardening, fishing and crafting add side activities, and every player gets a home that can be decorated.

The game is free to start. Players then buy access to areas with crowns or choose a membership that unlocks all content. It includes chat filters designed for younger players, and there is ranked PvP.
