Discworld MUD

Fan-run, humorous text MUD set in Terry Pratchett's Discworld, with over a million rooms, seven guilds and player-made law.

Overview

Discworld MUD recreates Terry Pratchett's comic fantasy world in text. Players explore Ankh-Morpork and many other cities, meet characters from the novels, and pick one of seven guilds such as wizards, witches, thieves, assassins or fools.

The world is very large, with over a million rooms, and play spans skill-based advancement, quests, crafting, player housing and player-run shops. Player councils elect magistrates who handle law in some cities, and clubs and families give groups a formal home.

The MUD was founded in 1991 and opened to the public in 1992. It is a volunteer, non-commercial project that runs on its own LPC mudlib. Players can use the official browser client or connect a MUD client to discworld.starturtle.net on port 23 or 4242.
