The Crims
- PBBG
- RPG
A text-based mafia game set in 1930s America where players rise through crime ranks and build families.
Omerta casts players as gangsters in a 1930s America. You start at the bottom, committing small crimes, stealing cars and running booze, and build rank, money and influence over time.
The heart of the game is the mafia family. Players join or found families, which compete for control of cities, run businesses and casinos, and fight each other. Killing another player is possible and permanent for that character, so protection, bullets and alliances matter. The game is played in text through menus and timers rather than graphics.
Omerta went public in September 2003 and has had several major versions since, with millions of registrations over its run. It is free to play in the browser, with optional paid credits. Registration and play happen entirely on the website, and accounts can also be created through Facebook.
