Overview
Lineage 2 Essence is a separate version of Lineage II aimed at players who prefer to level on their own. Classes carry the buffs they need, and auto-combat handles much of the routine hunting, so a character can progress without a fixed party.
At higher levels the focus moves to group play across servers: cross-server wars over the Dark Stronghold, castle sieges, and raid bosses such as Kain van Halter and the Pagan Temple encounter. Updates regularly add dungeons and rework classes; the current update, Celestial Destiny, brought new dungeons and changes for archers, healers, Orc casters and Death Knights.
In Europe the game is run by Innova on the 4game platform and is free to play. It has its own servers and characters, separate from 4game's main Lineage 2 service.
