Vindictus

An action MMORPG with physics-driven melee combat, run as instanced dungeon battles from shared town hubs.

Overview

Vindictus, released in Korea as Mabinogi Heroes, is a prequel to Mabinogi with a much darker tone. Players join a band of mercenaries and fight through instanced battles against large monsters, using real-time combat where objects can be picked up, thrown or broken.

Towns act as social hubs where players form parties, trade and prepare before entering battles of up to four players, and larger raids for bigger groups. Each character has its own weapon style and combat moves, and progress comes from gear upgrades, enchantments and leveling.

The game is free to play, supported by a cash shop for cosmetics, character slots and convenience items. The North American version launched in 2010, a few months after Korea, and it still receives numbered content patches and anniversary events.
